A Scenic Drive

After the day of Salamander Hunting, Picture Taking, and other various and assorted activities, we took a drive down the property, to see some of the things that my dad has been doing with the place - fences here, new roads there, new trees planted, all those kinds of things. So come driving with us!

"We're going through THERE?!?"
Shooting the gap...
Yep, that's close!

I think floodwater created that little canyon...

The end of the (fence) line...
Rachel's turn to drive

Emma's turn now!
Here we go shooting the gap again...the old man's still got it!

And who doesn't like to relax and read a good book after a scenic drive?

The Parker Estate

I took these pictures before going on the Great Salamander Hunt...this place is beautiful. It's changed a lot from when I grew up, but it's still awesome.

Dad's Log Truck...
The Skidder...
Pumphouse and garden down to the left, by my grampa's old International truck

The pond, just below Parker Park where Tanya got married

The sunshine is where the "new" property starts

We got cows...

Yay, swimming.

And the loader that I used to run for my dad out logging one summer. It's still fun to deck logs and even help loading trucks...

Mom! Flowers For You!

These pictures are especially for my mom - On our drive on the property we took off looking for bleeding hearts - we found them, and others. Mom, I'll expect you to correct me if I get the names wrong...I'm not as practiced up as I used to be.

Hound's Tongue
Here's the Bleeding Heart we found; not quite in bloom yet
Lamb's Tongue
A cool view of the little lily
The Hound's Tongue again, Mom picked some
And this is some more hiding in the brush in Harry & Muriel Park.
I hope I got the names right...I'll correct them if I made any mistakes. ;)

Bummers

The girls got to feed the bummer lambs, although they were starting to wean themselves from the bottles so didn't want to eat much; therefore I only have a couple pictures. But this is another thing from my childhood that they get to experience once in a while. I love that they get to do these things!!

The Great Salamander Hunt

Whenever we go to the Parker Estate, there is a hunt for some sort of creature. Sometimes snakes, sometimes frogs, but this time it was salamanders. Growing up, we played with salamanders and frogs all the time. So the girls and I, camera in hand, went for a walk!
Emma found one! Actually she had two, Frank and Lisa. OK, well, I caught them for her. But who's keeping track?
And also one for Rachel...meet Abigail the salamander.
Look, Mama!
SO happy to have creatures!!

As always, Molly wants to play
Walking up to the house to show everyone our catch

Time to set them free again...

Bye bye! Nice knowing ya! (Now go wash your hands!)
